I'm going to give you five tips on how to create a vision. Close your eyes with me. Envision your success. What does success mean to you? Without limitations, without conditions, without rules, what does success look like for you?
In order to start your vision, you've got to write it down. You've got to make it simple. Very clear. Identify what your vision is. You want to identify smart goals.
You want it to be very specific. It's your who. It's your what. It's your when, your where, your how. Your specific goals in mind are going to help you create the vision that you want.
You also want those goals to be measurable. How do you define what you want to happen? If you're going to write a book, for instance, you actually have to figure out how you're going to get from point A to point B. For some of you, it may mean that two hours a night every night of the week for the next six months, you work on your book. That's the only way that you're going to take one page and turn it into a chapter.
The third one is achievable. You can probably achievable and attainable interchangeable. By this, it's how you want to attain your goals. What do you need to make it happen? For some folks, it may be resources. Other people, it may be people. It may be the research that you need to figure out in order to attain your goals.
Now, I asked you to close your eyes earlier. No conditions, no limitations, no rules-- that doesn't mean that you don't stop with it being realistic. If you are going to solve a problem, create a cure for a disease that's plaguing us, you have to be realistic. You're not going to do it tomorrow. For some of you, it may mean that you have to go back to school. That's being realistic.
You want to make sure that your goal that you're setting has a time period. You also want to make sure you're following that time period. Many of you all are sitting in this room because you have a vision before. You just didn't do anything about it. Now it's time to make it happen.
